Aerodrome Adds New Emissions-Eligible Pools and Incentives

Aerodrome Finance has activated AERO emissions for the HALO/VIRTUAL liquidity pool on Base, expanding incentives available to liquidity providers following the onboarding of Warden Protocol. The change allows users supplying liquidity to the pair to earn AERO rewards, adding a new incentive layer around HALO and VIRTUAL trading activity.

Aerodrome confirmed through its official account that emissions are now live for HALO/VIRTUAL. The move follows the protocol’s established model of directing newly issued AERO toward selected liquidity pools. Rather than distributing emissions uniformly, Aerodrome uses governance decisions to determine where liquidity incentives flow.

HALO/VIRTUAL joins Aerodrome’s emissions system

Aerodrome’s official protocol documentation explains that AERO is distributed weekly to liquidity providers, while holders who lock AERO receive veAERO and can vote on how rewards are allocated between eligible pools. The more voting support a pool receives relative to other gauges, the greater its share of the following epoch’s AERO emissions.

The structure creates incentives on both sides of the liquidity market. LPs can stake eligible positions to receive AERO, while veAERO holders directing emissions can collect exchange revenue associated with the pools they support. Aerodrome states that token operators collectively receive 100% of exchange revenue, which includes swap fees from staked liquidity and voting incentives deposited by third parties.

HALO itself is part of Warden Protocol’s push into decentralized AI infrastructure. In its official Halo launch announcement, Warden described the project as a peer-to-peer marketplace for AI inference built on Base. Adding AERO incentives to HALO/VIRTUAL gives that emerging ecosystem an additional mechanism for attracting liquidity around its token market.

Aerodrome broadens the assets receiving incentives

The HALO/VIRTUAL activation comes as Aerodrome extends emissions across pools representing different parts of the on-chain economy. Recent additions cited in market updates include wtSGOV, a wrapped asset linked to Treasury exposure, as well as the MXNB/USDC pair. The expanding pool mix shows Aerodrome directing its liquidity machinery beyond conventional crypto pairs toward AI-linked and tokenized real-world assets.

That diversification fits Aerodrome’s broader incentive design. Its documentation describes a flywheel in which emissions attract LP capital, deeper liquidity can improve execution, and greater trading activity generates revenue that can attract future veAERO votes. The model effectively makes liquidity allocation competitive, with pools seeking both capital from LPs and governance support from veAERO holders.

For HALO/VIRTUAL, the immediate impact is straightforward: eligible liquidity can now participate in AERO emissions while the pool competes for votes within Aerodrome’s weekly allocation process. Whether the incentives produce durable liquidity will ultimately depend on continued trading demand and governance support rather than emissions alone.
