Coinbase has suspended trading in six non-U.S.-dollar markets after reviewing market activity and liquidity conditions. The affected pairs are LSETH-ETH, MINA-EUR, GRT-GBP, MASK-GBP, CHZ-USDT and CRO-USDT. The change removes specific order books rather than the underlying crypto assets, which remain available through U.S. dollar markets for eligible Coinbase Advanced users.
The exchange said it regularly evaluates supported markets and is consolidating liquidity to improve overall market health. Concentrating activity into fewer order books can support deeper liquidity and more efficient execution, particularly when trading volume becomes fragmented across several fiat, stablecoin or crypto-denominated pairs.

Five Markets Entered Limit-Only Mode Before Suspension
Before closing the markets, Coinbase moved MINA-EUR, GRT-GBP, MASK-GBP, CHZ-USDT and CRO-USDT into limit-only mode on Coinbase Exchange and Coinbase Advanced. During that phase, customers could place or cancel limit orders, while existing orders could continue matching when compatible prices were available. Market orders were no longer accepted, reducing the possibility of immediate execution against thin or rapidly changing order books.
LSETH-ETH was included in the final suspension but was not named in Coinbase’s separate limit-only update. The exchange did not apply the same pre-suspension trading controls to every affected pair, although all six markets ultimately reached the same outcome.
Limit-only operation gives traders greater control over their requested execution price, but it does not guarantee that an order will fill. In a market with limited counterparties, an order may remain open until it is cancelled or the order book closes. The temporary restriction managed the transition without preserving long-term access to the affected pairs.
Pair Removal Does Not End Asset Support
Coinbase later confirmed that trading had been suspended and said eligible Advanced Trade users could continue accessing the assets through USD-denominated order books. Holders are not being forced out of LsETH, MINA, GRT, MASK, CHZ or CRO solely because these six markets were removed.
The practical impact will vary by user and region. Traders who previously relied on euro, pound, USDT or ETH settlement must shift to another supported market, potentially introducing an additional conversion step and different fees or spreads. The decision changes the route to liquidity rather than eliminating access to the supported assets altogether.
Pair-level suspensions are a market-operations tool for exchanges seeking to reduce fragmented volume and maintain functional order books. Coinbase did not identify regulatory action, security incidents or project-specific technical problems as reasons for these removals. The confirmed rationale is market health and liquidity consolidation, leaving the decision focused on trading infrastructure rather than terminating support for the six assets.
