Binance Releases 45th Proof of Reserves Report

Binance has published its 45th Proof of Reserves (PoR) report, providing a snapshot of customer asset backing as of August 1, 2026. According to the disclosure, user Bitcoin (BTC) holdings increased to approximately 657,000 BTC, representing a 2.55% rise—or 16,349 BTC—compared to the previous snapshot taken on July 1.

The report, which marks nearly four years of monthly transparency disclosures from the world’s largest exchange by volume, showed diverging trends among other major assets. While Bitcoin balances grew for the third consecutive month, user holdings in Ethereum (ETH) and Tether (USDT) both experienced declines. ETH balances dropped by 2.57% to approximately 3.98 million ETH, and USDT holdings fell to roughly 32.9 billion tokens.

Despite the fluctuations in individual asset totals, Binance reported reserve ratios exceeding 100% for BTC, ETH, and USDT. These figures indicate that the exchange holds assets slightly in excess of the corresponding customer liabilities included in the disclosure. However, these snapshots do not constitute a full financial audit and do not provide a complete picture of Binance’s overall financial position.

Is liquidity moving?

The release comes as asset balances on centralized exchanges continue to shift between trading venues and self-custody. Previous on-chain tracker data has noted large liquidity movements involving Binance, including a 500 million USDT transfer from the Tether Treasury. Such transactions can affect exchange balances without necessarily indicating a change in underlying customer demand.

The release of the 45th report comes as Binance remains under continuous monitoring following its 2023 settlement with United States authorities. The exchange recently faced scrutiny regarding its compliance infrastructure following reports of internal departures related to suspicious transaction monitoring. The monthly PoR updates provide a recurring snapshot of the reserves backing user assets disclosed by the exchange.

The next Proof of Reserves report is expected in early September 2026, which would clarify whether the current trend of rising Bitcoin balances alongside declining stablecoin and Ether holdings persists.
